Biography

Dr. Peter Chai is an Assistant Professor in Emergency Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA. His primary research interest focuses on the adaptation of wearable and ingestible sensor technologies to detect medication adherence and substance abuse. Dr. Chai has worked with teams at Brown University, the University of Massachusetts and Banner Health at the University of Arizona to deploy Google Glass to project virtual specialists at the bedside of Emergency Departments, Intensive Care Units, and Poison Control Centers. He is currently developing an ingestible biosensor system that detects and verifies medication ingestion events in patients with substance abuse with active studies involving patterns of opioid ingestion after discharge from the Emergency Department.
